Model
Aero Mini Cat Product Review
I like to
build and fly planes that you don’t normally see at the
field. I also like planes that I can fly both outdoors and
indoors. We do a lot of indoor flying here in Wisconsin
during the winter months. The MiniCat from Model Aero
certainly fills that bill and at $39.95, it's a great deal.

What Scott DeTray has done is taken his successful Aero
Cat, (wingspan: 32" Length:31") and shrink it down
(Wingspan: 22", Length: 21"). It’s AUW is just 5 ounces
with the battery! In the box you get everything need to
build that plane. What you will need to complete it is:
Motor: 2204-14, 1400 kv
ESC: 8-10 amp
Battery: 360 to 500 mah 11.1v li-po
Prop: APC 5.25/6.25 or 6/5.5 cut to 5.5"
4 micro servos along with a receiver and you’re in the air
in no time.
To build the plane you’ll need an Exacto knife and foam
safe CA since it’s made from Depron. The instructions are
pretty straight forward and since I just went through the
build I’ll give you a couple of things to watch for. First,
make sure when you glue the motor mount to the fuselage you
have the tab down so that the wires from the motor fit. And
second, when you connect the linkage from the elevator
servo to the elevator horn it is as close as you can get it
to the inside of the fin so that it clears the prop.
The decals are easy to attach and really make it look
great. I used a 500 mAh battery and had no problem
balancing the MiniCat. I have uploaded a couple of pictures
from the build but since some many of you guys are more
visual, I did a super fast build video.
Here
it is, the MiniCat outside. It sure likes to scoot!
