Welcome to the Flying Electron's newly redesigned Web site. We are Wisconsin's largest radio control aircraft club. We started in 1960 when a small group of guys who were into radio controlled airplanes got together to form our club.

There are many types of radio-controlled aircraft. For beginning hobbyists, there are park flyers and trainers. For more advanced pilots there are glow plug engines, electric powered and sailplane aircraft. For expert flyers, jets, pylon racers, helicopters, autogyros, 3D aircraft, and other high end competition aircraft provide adequate challenge. You can also build scale models of manned aircraft. Some models are made to look and operate like a bird instead. Other sport aircraft are designated for scale-like flying referred to as "scale". Scale is a very demanding but rewarding aspect of the hobby.

The purpose of the club is to educate its members and the general public in the sport of radio controlled model aircraft construction and operation; to further the aim and purposes of the Academy of Model Aeronautics; to encourage and regulate safety concerning the operation of such aircraft; and to engage in such charitable activities relating to that sport as may be determined from time to time by the board of directors.

Free Flight Instruction For New RC Pilots!
Our primary purposes is to provide those new to the hobby a means to successfully learn to fly radio controlled model aircraft. Assistance will be provided with all aspects of “getting airborne” to our members. From selection of your first plane and equipment to flying your second or third airplane and beyond, we can help. “Buddy Box” training will be utilized for the actual flight lessons. This method uses the students radio transmitter and a second unit connected by a cable. This allows your instructor to quickly recover the model in most any situation. Our membership consists of a large number of very skilled, knowledgeable and experienced RC pilots. There is no additional cost to you beyond your AMA and Flying Electrons membership dues. Stop by on Monday nights during the summer for student night, weather permitting.
